AI
Conversations
This project involved the end-to-end design and development of engaging, bite-sized video scenarios focused on key leadership and management principles. Incorporating AI-powered video generation, these resources were strategically integrated into an existing face-to-face training program to enhance learner engagement, provide practical context, and improve overall learning outcomes. The project began with thorough market research and the development of a comprehensive business case to ensure its strategic alignment and feasibility.
The Challenge
Existing leadership and management training programs required more engaging and contextually relevant learning materials to improve learner engagement and knowledge retention.
There was a need to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and practical application, particularly in demonstrating real-world scenarios.
The Approach
Additionally, there was an opportunity to explore and integrate innovative technologies, such as AI, to create flexible and scalable learning resources.
- Engagement Gap — Traditional face-to-face training struggled to capture and maintain learner attention.
- Theory-Practice Disconnect — Learners struggled to bridge theoretical concepts with real-world application.
- Scalability Limitations — Needed flexible, repeatable digital resources that could scale beyond physical workshops.
Solution
I led the design and development of a series of bite-sized video scenarios (ranging from 2-3 minutes each) that depicted common leadership and management challenges and opportunities. These videos served as scene-setters within the face-to-face training sessions, providing a shared context for discussions and activities. Key elements of the solution included:
Scenario-Based Learning
Each video presented a realistic leadership or management scenario designed to illustrate specific skills and concepts.
AI-Powered Video Generation
Utilising Synthesia, an AI video platform, allowed for rapid and efficient creation of professional-quality video content, including diverse virtual actors and customisable settings.
Strategic Integration
The videos were carefully designed to complement the existing curriculum, following a whole-part-whole learning methodology. They provided the initial "whole" by setting the scene, allowing the face-to-face training to delve into the "part" (specific skills), and then enabling learners to apply and reflect on their learning in the final "whole."
Collaborative Approach
Throughout the project, I worked closely with subject matter experts and training facilitators to ensure the scenarios were relevant, accurate, and effectively integrated into the training program.
